The foundation goals

Its establishment was also due to the work of the Committee for Exhibitions in Honour of Barsanti and Matteucci for the 150th Anniversary of the Invention of the Internal Combustion Engine. The Rotary Club in Lucca has obtained the support of the Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca Foundation, the Banca del Monte di Lucca Foundation, the Chamber of Commerce in Lucca, the Association of Manufacturers of the Province of Lucca and the Italian Automobile Club in Lucca, and thus the Barsanti and Matteucci Foundation was formally established on 4 June 2003. The Barsanti and Matteucci Foundation’s function is to make the work of the two scientists from Lucca better known and to establish the priority of the invention of the internal combustion engine at a world level.
